I’m so excited, I came in last again. I know that may sound funny but hear me out. When I joined the Junior Varsity team, I asked Coach how to get better. He said I should run with the Varsity team. The Varsity team runs faster, longer, and finishes better than me. I lose every single time in practice. And while I could be down and sad about it, I choose to persevere. Because on race day, I’m the fastest JV runner out there.

This short story is based on James 1:1-8. Our church is taking a break from the lectionary and is preaching on James this fall. I’ll be working my way through the common lectionary as well, hopefully.
And in case the title confuses you, here’s an article about her training.
