by Joshua Becker

If you know me, you might know that I’m a fan of minimalism. And I’m a big fan of Joshua Becker. He’s written some great books and makes great content on YouTube. Uncluttered Faith feels like it’s the thing that he’s been hinting at all along.
Joshua takes all the bits and pieces of the minimalism he’s been talking about for the last decade plus and shows the true benefit in Uncluttered Faith. I mean, minimalism is great, helps free up time, space, and energy in your life, but to what end? Does it really matter if we have a ton of stuff or just enough stuff at the end of our lives? Becker says that there could be eternal benefits to our lack of over consumption.
Uncluttered Faith goes through New Testament scriptures and shows how owning less has more influence on our lives than one might initially think. So many passages are used and once you see how they could apply to a call to own just enough, a story unfolds. Jesus wants us to live a full life, one that is devoted to God and minimalism will help us with that call. By not overconsuming, we can take that time, space, and energy and use it to serve our neighbor and to glorify our God.
This book showed up at the right time for me. With me going to work full time for the first time, there’s an increase in funds in the accounts. Without this faithful reminder, it would have been easy to slip into a lifestyle that’s a little more padded. Instead I’ve now been rejuvenated to continue with my minimalism journey. By not spending that new income on random influencer fueled junk, I can instead make a conscious decision with where it can be invested and how to serve God with the gifts that I’ve been given.
I received this book through NetGalley for the purpose of review. I’m never required to give a positive review, but I’m always thankful when I can.
