A letter from Emmy Lou to the owner of Jiffy Mix on being awarded a certificate of perfect attendance for school.
Dear Sir or Madam,
Mr. Or Mrs. Jiffy I am writing to you today let you know that you helped me win the perfect attendance award this year. Every morning, my mother serves me Jiffy blueberry muffins. I quite like your muffins, especially with a pat of butter. The blueberries are not like the ones we pick in the summer but still good.
Without your delicious and quick treat, I would not have made it out the house to school on time each morning. Thank you for your help. Mother said I have to thank everyone that helped. She probably just meant my brother who always wakes me up in the morning or my dad that makes sure I get out the door on time. But there are so many people that helped, like the people who made my shoes, the milk man, Mr. Jones the crossing guard. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be writing letters all summer.
Last year, my brother went on a tour of your factory with his class and told me all about it. When I think of all the work you do to put blueberry muffin mix in a box, my job of mixing the batter seems even easier. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Emmy Lou
PS I really do love your muffins and eat them every day. Mom says I may turn into a blueberry muffin if I’m not careful. Is that possible?

This short story is based on Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (NIV)
