a Sinner’s prayer based on 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 by Christina D. Puntigam

This piece started out as a short story. I thought it might be a book when I began thinking about it. But then it whittled itself down into a tiny bit of prose. Even that was too much and the redacted text became a part of it. And now here it is as a photograph of a prayer, uttered in the midst of sin. The thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians has always struck me as something that could have been named. Paul could have stated his struggle but the reality is, in the redacted state, it speaks to all of us because we each have our own thorn in the flesh. So feel free to insert what you must in the blanks.
